Adult ADHD Therapy

Specialized support for adults managing ADHD symptoms, improving focus and organization.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, distracted, disorganized, emotionally drained, or stuck in patterns of procrastination, adult ADHD therapy can help you better understand your brain and build practical strategies for daily life. At Healing & Wellness, we provide ADHD counseling for adults navigating late diagnosis, work challenges, relationships, burnout, and the day to day impact ADHD can have on life in the East Valley and through telehealth across Arizona.

Common Signs of Adult ADHD in Adults

Adult ADHD is often misunderstood as only an attention problem, but it can affect many areas of everyday life, relationships, school, and work performance.

Trouble With Focus and Follow Through

  • Difficulty staying focused on tasks, conversations, or responsibilities
  • Starting projects with motivation but struggling to finish them
  • Frequently forgetting appointments, deadlines, or everyday items
  • Trouble prioritizing tasks or managing time effectively
  • Becoming overwhelmed by paperwork, emails, or daily responsibilities
  • Difficulty following through on plans, routines, or long term goals

Restlessness, Impulsivity, and Feeling Overwhelmed

  • Feeling mentally restless even when physically tired
  • Talking quickly, interrupting, or blurting things out unintentionally
  • Making impulsive decisions and regretting them later
  • Difficulty slowing down racing thoughts or turning your brain “off”
  • Becoming easily frustrated or impatient
  • Taking on too much at once and becoming overwhelmed

Adult ADHD can look different from person to person. You may not relate to every experience listed here, but if these patterns feel familiar, therapy can help you better understand yourself and develop strategies that work with your brain instead of against it.

Why I'm Passionate About Helping Adults with ADHD

Like many adults with ADHD, I did not realize I had it until later in life. During my internship, my clinical supervisor suggested I read Driven to Distraction, and suddenly so many things began to make sense.

At first, there was grief. I wondered how different life might have been if I had been diagnosed during childhood. I thought about how ADHD had affected me in school, college, work, relationships, and life decisions. But over time, that understanding became freeing. It helped me look back with more compassion and less self-criticism.

That personal insight shapes how I support adults with ADHD today. I understand how frustrating it can be to feel inconsistent, forgetful, overwhelmed, or not as “sharp” as others seem to be. Because I have lived many of these experiences myself, clients often do not have to explain themselves as much because I already understand many of the symptoms and day-to-day challenges that can come with ADHD.

I also know how much relief can come from finally understanding your brain and learning practical ways to make life feel less stressful when unexpected things happen.

Wondering If You May Have ADHD?

Many adults begin to recognize ADHD patterns in their lives but are unsure whether their experiences fit a diagnosis.

For those looking for clarity, we offer a structured, two session ADHD consultation to help determine whether ADHD may be contributing to current challenges. This process includes a review of current concerns, relevant history, ADHD symptom patterns, and how these patterns are impacting daily functioning across different areas of life.

If your symptoms meet the criteria for ADHD, we can identify that as part of the consultation and help you understand what it means for therapy, referrals, or additional support.

Important: This consultation is not a formal psychological evaluation and does not replace comprehensive testing required for accommodations, disability documentation, or workplace or academic services.

If you’re unsure where to begin, this consultation can be a helpful starting point.
